Port Blair, Feb 21: The Port Blair Municipal Council conducted a written examination for 33 posts of LGC on 21.01.2018 and based on the computerized evaluation of the Answer Sheets (OMR), the list of Short-Listed Candidates was uploaded on the website 08.02.2018 at www.and.nic.in. The images of all the Answer Sheets (OMR) and the four sets of question papers alongwith answer keys have also been uploaded on the same website vide Press Note dated 12.02.2018. The number of short-listed candidates is about five times of the number of vacancies under each Category. During last year a Press Note was issued on 14th June 2017 with the mention about subject wise and aggregate minimum qualifying marks but subsequently this aspect has not been stressed upon to keep the pattern of the examination simple and easy so that adequate eligible candidates are available to fill up the vacancies existing for last about two decades.
The Type-Test on Computer will be held at the National Informatics Centre (NIC), Andaman State Unit, GPOA Complex, Ranchi Basthi, Port Blair on 03rd and 04th March 2018 i.e. Saturday & Sunday. The Admission Certificate/Hall Tickets for the Type-Test can be downloaded from the website www.and.nic.in. The detail of batch and timings of the Type-Test is indicated in the Hall Tickers. The Short-Listed Candidates are advised to /be present at Centre at least 30 minutes before the scheduled time of their batch. They are required to bring a copy of Hall Ticket along with any original photo Identity Card like AADHAR Card, Driving Licence, Islander I-Card or Election I-Card etc. The duration of Type-Test will be about 15 minutes and immediately prior to the Test, the Candidate will be given about 10 minutes time for practice/familiarization with the Key-Board. The required typing speed on Computer is 35 words per minute in English or 30 words per minute in Hindi. The Type-Test will be of qualifying in nature and its marks will not have any effect on the merit but those who fail to clear the Type-Test will be out of the recruitment process. Since the evaluation of the Type-Test (English) will be computer software based, the whole process will be fully transparent & fair without any human intervention. The Candidates will get their result of the Type-Test at the end of the Test itself.
The Candidates who qualify the Type-Test will be required to produce original documents on a specified date and time. After verification of the original documents, if it is found that he/she is not eligible as per the notified Recruitment Rules and the Scheme of the recruitment exam, then his/her candidature will be rejected irrespective of his/her performance in the written examination and the Typing Test. The Offer of Appointment will be issued to candidates equal to number of vacancies under each category. Remaining candidates in the category wise Final Merit List will be in the Panel for a period of one year.
