Diglipur, Jan15: The harvest festival of Pongal was celebrated at Diglipur with traditional gaiety and fervour today. Tamizhar Sangam Diglipur organized various sports and competitions on this occasion.
The main function which was held at Tamizhar Sangal hall at Diglipur Bazaar started with lightening of the lamp. Chief Guest on this occasion was Mr B.Prabhu Ram , Professor, MG College, Mayabunder. Traditional cultural programmes followed by prize distribution for the games and various competitions like musical chair,Rangoli, Thirukkural recitation, elocution competitions which were held during the festival.
Chief Guest expressing his views mentioned that “It’s happy to see that the public of Diglipur are celebrating all festivals together with much enthusiasm and joy. He wished that “Makar Sankranti may bring joy & prosperity in everyone’s lives” and wished everyone on the auspicious occasion.
Earlier in the morning at 7 am the new building was inaugurated at Tamizhar Sangam by President Mr P R Singaram . After that Cycle race was flagged off by SHO VP MIshra . Various outdoor games and competitions were organized on this occasion. Children presented colorful Cultural programmes in the evening at Sangam.
