Port Blair, Jan 08: The ATM installed at Municipal Complex of Chakkargaon has become a major source of disappointment for thousands of people, who reside near the area and also for those, who use the Chakkargaon route on daily basis.
After several media reports that the entire stretch of Chakkargaon right from Naya Gaon to Corbyn’s Cove junction does not have even a single ATM counter, this ATM was installed by SBI but to the utter dismay of people, the newly installed ATM do not read the ATM Card of other banks.
“The machine reads only SBI ATM cards while people having ATM cards of other banks, go back without cash,” said a resident of the area.
If ATM card of any other bank is used in this ATM, it shows warning that the transaction has been declined. Moreover in most of the occasions the ATM remains either out of order or out of cash.
Chakkargaon is a thickly populated area and because of hundreds of Government quarters built in the area thousands of people require facilities like ATM or daily basis. Sadly the SBI has failed all these people.
Public of the area are now requesting the SBI to sort out this problem immediately so that they don’t have to travel to other area just to get some cash.
