Baratang, Dec 17: The 50th Annual Athletic meet of GSSS Oralkatcha, Baratang for the academic year- 2017-18 was held at the forest ground on 14th December 2017 in a befitting manner.
Dr. Meena Nazin, Incharge Medical officer PHC South Creek, Baratang was the Chief Guest and Mrs. Anita Johnson, Headmistress of the school was the guest of honor for the opening ceremony. Sub Inspector Gaurav Banerjee was Chief Guest of Concluding ceremony.
The other distinguished guests were from other departments, PRIs alongwith the members of SMC, PTA and parents.
Smti. M.V.Jolly, Principal, GSSS Oralkatcha, welcomed the gathering. The meet was declared opened by the chief guest. Nearly 600 students from the school participated in various events. The students presented an impressive March Past which was followed by a number of colorful displays such as Mass PT followed by the group dance by tiny tots.
The foremost attraction was the Malkhamb, which was included for the first time in the annual athletic meet.
Another important feature was the ground Gymnastic in which the Enactment of the “Fire Hoop Game” where the stunt masters jumped through the fire ring exhibiting their skill.
Declaring the meet open Dr. Meena Nazin exhorted the students to excel in the field of sports and games. Emphazing the importance of physical culture she highlighted the role of such meet in promoting the spirit of the role of such meet in promoting the spirit of sportsmanship as well as discipline as sports promises a spirit of obedience and fairness, the value of which cannot be exaggerated.
The event was also embedded with the colorful presentation by the Rhythmic gymnastics. It was really an immaculate presentation, worth of appreciation which was enjoyed by a large no gathering including people from neighboring villages.
Closing ceremony was marked by and interesting presentation titled Mr. Masculine in which an individual participant from various houses showcased their muscular body, strength, power and fitness to live a healthy life. For which Mr. Gaurav Banerjee, SHO Baratang was the Chief Guest and Mr. KK Jose, Incharge STS was the Guest of honour and they honoured the winners and the champions of the houses.
Mr. Gaurav in his speech emphasized on sportsmanship saying it should be a rule of life and it is not necessary that we should be broad minded in the playground. A display of Aerobic Dance by the students with hue of colours was a feast to the audience. The meet submitted with the proposal of vote of thanks by Smti. Vanisha Rajan, PGT, GSSS Oralkatcha.
