Port Blair, Dec 15: The first meeting of the Committee constituted by Administration order No. 4055 dated 23.11.2017 to oversee the repair and maintenance of ATR and its widening was held under the Chairmanship of Dy. Commissioner (SA) on 14.12.2017 in the community hall Chouldhari. During the meeting, the Pradhans, Zilla Parishad Members, Pramukh Panchayat Samiti and the social workers from respective panchayat, the Executive Engineers, RCD, CD-II & Project Manager, NHIDCL were present.
In the meeting the progress of NH 223 was discussed in details and the some crucial decisions were taken like immediate repair of bailey bridge at Jodakalan and Shippighat by NHIDCL within a week i.e. by 21.12.2017; Immediate pot holes repair by bitumen before taking up the work of repairing / widening of ATR by NHIDCL. The same shall be completed by 22.12.2017; Deputing of dedicated team of contractors to Ferrargunj, Caddlegunj, Orgabraj, Chouldhari & Dhanakhari panchayats by NHIDCL; Sharing of team members phones numbers to PRIs so that PRIs will be able to suggest and supervise repair works happening in their respective jurisdiction; DC(SA) directed NHIDCL to open site office at Ferrargunj immediately along with other places on the ATR; Immediate taking up of diversion needed for relaying and widening of the NH in discussion with PRIs; Shifting of electric poles and electric lines should be taken up with the Electricity Department so as to ensure no unnecessary damage to the electric lines and no unscheduled power cuts happens; The next meeting shall be conducted on 22.12.2017 at 0930hrs at Ferrargunj Gram Panchayat.
