Port Blair, August 26: The Port Blair Municipal Council has disconnected the Water Connection of the AYUSH Hospital today giving immense trouble to the OPD and admitted patients of the Hospital.
As per reports, the Hospital has not paid the water charges since last five years and hence the PBMC has disconnected the water connection after serving due notices.
Sources said Andman Sheekha that the water charges were kept due since the time when the Hospital was only an Urban Health Centre.
When Contacted the Chairperson, Port Blair Municipal Council, Mr B Eswar Rao also confirmed that the Council has disconnected the water supply of the Hospital.
“After abolishing Octroi and implementation of GST it is very difficult to run the show of the Council, there is also salary issues now and therefore the PBMC will have to collect all the dues from the market,” said Mr Eswar. He said that the bill of the AYUSH hospital is due since last 05 years and even after giving notices, the AYUSH Authorities have not paid the bill.
Andaman Sheekha tried to contact the Programme Officer, AYUSH Hospital, Dr Kalyan Ghosh over phone but he was not reachable for a comment.
Being a government run hospital such pending dues is certainly a major mistake from the side of AYUSH Hospital authorities but disconnecting water connection of a Hospital is also not a bright idea, many believe.
Eswar Rao can’t dare to initiate action against prince bajaj building at middle point which violates PBMC bye laws, bcoz its matter of rich and power. But hospital is public property. What non sense does he!
