Port Blair, July 28: For smooth implementation of Good and Sales Tax in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, the Joint Commissioner, UTGST has advised people to collect and demand bills, on every purchase.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha today, the Joint Commissioner, UTGST, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Kalyan Ghosh said that the first basic thing, the people must do is to ask for bills on every purchase from the retailer, the only way the consumers will not be get cheated.
When Andaman Sheekha questioned the Joint Commissioner GST whether the bill should be manual or computerized, Mr Kalyan said that no issues if bill issued is a manual one, but if there should be tax taken from the things purchased, the retailer must mention it in the bills.
Mr Kalyan Ghosh further said that the people of these islands must change their mind set, businessmen in the islands must change their style of doing business, correct their accounting procedures etc.
He further also advised the whole-sellers that there is no need for them to ask for GST registration to their small retailers whose annual turnover is less than Rs 20 Lakhs and they can supply them the goods without that.
“Till date more than 1500 fresh GST registrations applications have been received from the islands which a very good sign for smooth implementation of GST here,” Mr Kalyan Ghosh said.
