Port Blair, Jun 14: One and half day workshop on ‘Yoga Therapy on lifestyle disorders’ jointly organized by AYUSH Wing of DHS and A&N State AYUSH Society at TGCE Auditorium on 12th & 13th June, 2017 concluded successfully.
The programme was a part of celebrations of 3rd ‘International Day of Yoga (IDY)’ in which 46 Doctors/Yoga personnel from Health Dept., ANIIMS and Central Councils of Research in Ayurveda & Homeopathy participated.
Dr. (Mrs) Shipra paul, Director of Health Services, inaugurated the workshop by lighting the lamp and urged the participants to mobilize the general public to adopt the yoga practice in their daily routine.
Dr. Subramanya Pailoor, Associate Prof. & Dr. Raghvendra Samy, Asst. Prof. from S-VYASA University, Bengaluru (A centre of excellence for yoga education and research on yoga in the country), conducted the scientific sessions on various topics i.e. ‘Yoga: Its basis & application for Non Communicable Diseases’, ‘Yoga: As an evidence based personalized medicine’,’ Cyclic Meditation; Principles, Practice & Research evidence’, ‘Yoga Therapy for cancer care, pain management’. It was followed by practice of Common Yoga Protocol framed by Ministry of AYUSH, GoI for IDY. The participants enthusiastically practiced all the prescribed Asanas & Pranyamas under the guidance of Yoga personnel under AYUSH.
