Diglipur, 21 April: A 22 year old youth died today at Govind Ballabh Pant Hospital after suffering severe injuries in the Forest Labourer Selection process held at Diglipur.
The deceased Saw Khelly is a graduate aged about 22 years belongs to Lucknow village of Mayabunder and also belongs to Karane community who participated on 18th April.
During the test the deceased Saw Khelly completed almost 11 km of running and when only one kilometer was remaining he collapsed on the road.
He was taken to PHC Radhanagar by the forest vehicle along with medical staff where he was admitted for a day, later he was shifted to CHC Diglipur and on the next day he was referred to GB Pant hospital through Helicopter where he died in the early morning today.
Presently, the Physical Endurance Test for selection of 76 posts of Forest Labourer is being conducted at Forest Nursery, Laxmipur village at Diglipur Sub Division.
Near about 11000 candidates have applied for the aforesaid post for which the department is conducting Physical Endurance Test since April 10, which will continue till 6th May.
As per reports, per day a total of 500 applicants are appearing for the Test. The Physical Endurance test is divided into 3 stages first is walking test of 12 Kilometers for boys in 1 hour 15 minutes, 10 kilometers for female in same time from Forest Nursery to Radhanagar Panchayat.
Second is Weigh lifting test and third is trade test. The Forest Department is also video recording the whole process which can be viewed by the candidates after the test gets finished.
The Overall In-charge of the selection process is DFO Diglipur, Mr Ajay Kumar, IFS is on leave at present, it is learnt. The additional in charge is DFO Mayabunder under whose supervision, the test is being conducted.
Apart from DFO, 7 more members are looking after the process. BDO, Diglipur is the observer, AE, APWD Mr Jose P Jhon, ACF Mayabunder Mrs Lata Hegde, ACT Diglipur, Mrs Neelam Purti, Range officer, Aerial Bay, Mr Hosea Dy, Ranger, Mr Dinesh Kumar, ACF Diglipur.
In last 10 days several injuries have been reported by the candidates.
The candidates are feeling that the selection process is very tough as out of 500 candidates only 21 reached the finishing point. The whole process is in question since initial stage.
Speaking to Andaman Sheekha the Pradhan of Laxmipur said that daily 3-4 candidates are getting hurt in this selection process and many more getting collapsed before they reach final stage.
“A married woman leg was fractured and on Monday. Also a boy got injuries during the weight lifting process and admitted in hospital. One more boy is said to become abnormal after participating in the selection test,” Pradhan said.
