Diglipur, Apr 17: Call it a love for a particular brand of product or an excuse to fix deal with certain groups of businessmen some government departments as well as panchayats are regularly releasing tenders for products of particular products.
According to a High Court order government department can only ask for specifications of goods to be purchased and not the brand but it seems that some officials don’t even care about High Court’s orders.
On 16th Jan 2017 an electrical tender in Gram Panchayat Diglipur was organised.
After which a particular private firm received two supply orders on 24th Feb and 27th Feb.
According to both supply orders the firm delivered all the ISO certified materials and submitted the bill within one week.
But after two weeks of the completion of the delivery the Gram Panchayat Diglipur started demanding for four specific brand products.
But surprisingly, despite submitting copies of High court order stating that as per Govt. of India rule the Panchayat cannot favour any specific brand, the product should be ISO Certified the Panchayat has now served a notice that the firm must supply products of the specific brand desired by them or else the supply orders will be canceled.
When Andaman Sheekha contacted the pradhan of Gram Panchayat Diglipur, Mr. Kewal Krishna, he said that according to the secretary of his Panchayat no goods have been delivered by the concerned private firm, for which he has issued a notice.
Now the question arises here that when the private firm has supplied the goods already and has evidence of supply, how can the panchayat say that no goods have been received from the supplier? Questions also arises that why the said panchayat is demanding only some particular brand? Hope the Secretary of PRI & anti-corruption department will look into this matter and do the needful.
