Port Blair, Apr 17: On 04.04.17 at 2305 hrs information was received from reliable source that one person namely S Simchalam was transporting huge quantity of banned tobacco products from Aberdeen Bazar to Dollygunj. A raiding team of Police personnel comprising SI Dheeraj Kishen, Constable Bhaskar Rao, R.S. Rakesh and Vijay Ram immediately swung into action and nabbed the accused near Dollygunj and recovered 80 packets of tobacco from possession of accused.
Developing the intelligence input further, the above team of Police personnel further mounted surveillance around Dollygunj area expecting arrival of tobacco consignment by late night chartered flight of Kolkata-Port Blair sector. On 14/04/17 at 0020 hrs a Maruti Omni Car was intercepted at Dollygunj and 60 packets of banned tobacco were recovered from the possession of driver Mushtaq Ali who had brought the contrabands from Kolkata.
The entire operation was conducted under the command of Inspr. Sahil Shamsuddin, SHO Pahargaon under the direct supervision of Shri. Nishant Gupta, DySP(South Andaman).
