Billiground, Mar 21: ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, N & M Andaman in association with NABARD, Port Blair organized a day long Capacilty Building Workshop for farmers of N & M Andaman on promotion of farmers producers organization at vegetable market, Harinagar. On the occasion Director, Yuva mitra; Deputy General manager, NABARD; Pradhan, Harinagar; Pradhan, Swadeshnagar, PRI-members, Branch Managers from SBI, Billiground and A & N Co. Bank, Billiground, and Senior Scientist & Head, KVK, Nimbudera were present. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. B. L. Kasinath highlighted the initiative taken up by KVK in bringing awareness about the FPOs and informed the farmers that KVK will always support them in the formation of FPO. Pradhan, Harinagar and Swadeshnagar also expressed their views on the FPOs and motivated the farmers to join the FPO. Branch Managers of SBI, Billiground and A & N Co. Bank, Billiground also told the farmers to become the member of the FPO. Later on, Deputy General Manager provided the first hand information on FPO to the farmers and requested to the Director, Yuva Mitra who had came a long way from Maharastra to share his experiences on FPO. Director, Yuva Mitra shared his experiences with FPO in different location of the country. He also explained the farmers that how FPOs has been successful in bringing prosperity among the farmers at different region of the country. He also cleared all the issues and doubts raised by the participants regarding the organization and functioning of FPOs. A total of 131 participants were benefitted from the programme. The programme was performed under the supervision and guidance of Dr. S. Dam Roy, Director, CIARI and Dr. B. L. Kasinath, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK, Nimbudera.
