Port Blair, Mar 21: World Water Day is held annually on 22 March as a means of focusing attention on the importance of freshwater and advocating for the sustainable management of freshwater resources. An international day to celebrate freshwater was recommended at the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED). The United Nations General Assembly responded by designating 22 March 1993 as the first World Water Day.
Each year, World Water Day highlights a specific aspect of freshwater. In 2017, the theme is “Wastewater.”
Alongwith all State & Local Centres of The Institution of Engineers (India) (IEI), the Andaman & Nicobar State Centre (ANSC) is also celebrating the Day. On the occasion the Centre is organising a Technical Lecture on “Wastewater” on Wednesday, 22 March, 2017 at 3 pm at ALHW Conference Hall.
Er. Arun Kumar, Executive Engineer (Plg.), APWD, Port Blair will be delivering the lecture.
All the Engineering Fraternity & interested persons of these islands are requested to attend the Technical Lecture.
