Port Blair, Mar 09: The Directorate of Prohibition has launched a month long Anti Alcohol & Anti Drug Abuse campaign in all District with the help of CDPO’s of all Districts.
In a function organized by CDPO, Diglipur at Community Hall Kishori Nagar where the PRIs and Health worker, Teachers & ICDS Mukhya Sevika. Anganwadi workers of the area were present. Smt. Rita Mazumdar ANM of Primary Health Centre Kishori Nagar urged villager especially youth to actively involved in awareness campaign and to come forward to fight against this social evil.
An awareness programme on ill effects of Alcoholism was also organized at Community Hall, Shadipur under ICDS Urban Project. The resource persons from relevant field attended the programme and spoke on ill effects of Drug Abuse and Alcoholism and its bad impact on the present society. About 50 participants including villagers, Anganwadi workers and Departmental staffs attended the programme.
The councilor, Ward No 10 appraised the programme. The Brahmakumari sister Sharmistha motivated the public about the impact of meditation in day to day life and the power of self control to overcome alcoholism. Paralegal staff, Arunodaya gave information about legal consequences of alcoholism and addiction and also gave a talk on domestic violence due to alcoholism.
As part of awareness programme on Drug Abuse, Alcoholism and Anti Tobacco Consumption organized in different place of ICDS Project Ferrargunj i.e. at Chouldari AWC, Wimberlygunj Panchayat Hall, Brindaban AWC and Tushnabad. The campaign will also be the target vulnerable areas include activities like display of posters, erection of hoardings, interaction with PRIs about the harmful effects of Alcoholism.
