Port Blair, Mar 08: The officiating Chairperson Smt. Kiran Tigga was the chief guest for the celebration of International Women’s Day organized by Surabhi/Disha Self Help group Caddlegunj. She highlighted on various loan schemes provided by Government of India for women, cashless transactions besides encouraging women to be financially independent. She spoke on the social evils like alcoholism, effects of tobacco and zarda. She appreciated the Lt. Governor’s initiative in taking preventive measures on the sale of tobacco and liquor in the Islands to make the Islands a healthy society.
