Port Blair Feb 07: South Andaman Police is continuing its endeavor to curb down the menace of illicit sale of liquor and other contraband articles and in its pursuance, 01.02.2017 the Police team of PS Chatham conducted raid on arrival of ship MV Nancowry from Chennai at Haddo Wharf and recovered 1.200 Kgs pieces of tobacco leaves and 05 pouches of Tobacco from the possession of Jagbandhu Mondal (32) yrs R/o Durgapur, Diglipur and 05 pouches of Tobacco from the possession of Naveen Chandra Biswas Crew (seaman). Further on 03.02.2017 during raid at Haddo Wharf, on arrival of ship M.V. Harshwardhana recovered 6.5 kgs of tobacco products from two passengers namely Madusudan Mistry R/o Bathu Basthi & Jiban Hawladar R/o Mayabunder.
Besides, on 02.02.2017 the police team of PS Chatham also recovered 50 Nos. zarda paper pan (pudia) from the possession of Abdul Ibrahim (48) yrs R/o Haddo (Pan Shopkeeper).
Similarly on 03.02.2017, police team of PS Aberdeen recovered 08 Pan with Tobacco from one Santosh Tete R/o Dudh Line, Nayagaon. All the above recovered articles and the persons were handed over to the Food Safety Officers for further needful action.
General Public is requested to pass on information of any illegal activity noticed in the area in South Andaman District to nos. 100, 233077, 232405, 232400 and 232232.
