Port Blair, Feb 07: Shri Bishnu Pada Ray, Member of Parliament, A&N Islands has requested the Prime Minister to intervene in the matter for early tendering and award of the work of Submarine Optical Fiber Cable between Chennai & A&N Islands since the BSNL did not floated tender as per time line fixed by the Government i.e. by December, 2016 and work has to be completed by December, 2018. As such, in order to early expedition of the project work, Shri Ray, taken up the matter with the Prime Minister as well as Lt. Governor, A&N Islands besides raised the matter in the Parliament on 06.02.2016 for their intervention for early tendering and award of the work as per scheme of the project approved by the Cabinet on 21.09.2016. The Lt. Governor while acknowledging the letter written by Shri Ray, MP, A&N Islands, has assured that his honour is also very concerned with the matter and being taken up with the Union Minister of Communication and IT for accelerate the matter.
