Port Blair, Jan 13: As the saying goes that laughing is the best therapy in the world, people gathered at the DBRAIT auditorium enjoyed some lighter moments this evening when renowned poets from different parts of the country delighted them with their compositions, at the conclave of ‘Kavi Sammelan’, organised by the Directorate of Tourism in association with the Official Language Department of A& N Administration.
The Lt. Governor, A&N Islands, Prof. Jagdish Mukhi was the chief guest on the occasion. The First Lady, Smt. Prem Mukhi also graced the occasion. Smt. Rupa Ray, senior officers from the Administration also witnessed the ‘Kavi Sammelan’.
The presentations by noted poets viz. S/Shri Ajatshatru from Udaipur Rajasthan, Sardar Manjeet Singh from Faridabad Haryana, Sardar Pratap Faujdar and Gajendra Solanki from New Delhi, Dr Suresh Awasthi from Kanpur, UP and Poetess Smti Poonam Verma from Mathura, UP delighted the gathering which continued bursting into peals of laughter till the end.
The extra ordinary performances made a mark in the hearts of the people gathered at the auditorium. Satires were brought forth by fun, anecdotes and humour by the poets who also presented a number of poems on patriotism. Shri Gajendra Solanki was the master of the ceremony too, who presented a poem dedicated to the freedom fighters incarcerated in Cellular Jail.
