Port Blair, Dec 04: Nehru Yuva Kendra, Campbell Bay organized a Football Tournament for U-19 age group, under “Cluster Level Inter Youth Club Sports Meet-2016-17”. The tournament was inaugurated on 2nd on 2nd December, 2016 and total 8 teams participated. In the inaugural function Shri Gagan Dweep Singh Grewal, Zila Parishad Member, Campbell Bay was the Chief Guest and he declared the event. He also spoke about the need of Sports for the development of youth along with education. While Shri K. Raja, Gram Pradhan, Campbell Bay was the guest of honor. The tournament was organized in association with GSS, Campbell bay.
The tournament concluded on 4th December, at Mini Stadium, Campbell Bay and final match was played between Siman group, Gadda Bijan, CampbellBay vs Polycarp group Affrabay, Campbell Bay and Simon Group defeated Polycarp group by 3-1 in the score line. On this final Shri R. Mohanan, BDO, Campbell Bay was the chief guest he awarded Winner Trophy along with Gold medal and a merit Certificate to Winner team. He also spoke on the occasion that sports activates will foster spirit of discipline, self – help, cooperation, and friendship and above all a true healthy life style among Youth in the society.
While Shri Barnabas, Secretary Tribal Welfare, Campbell Bay was guest of honor and presented Runner Trophy along with Silver medal and a certificate and also spoke on the occasion that Sports activity as a natural process and way of life in rural youth to develop competitive spirit among rural youth. In the tournament the precedent of Manju Youth Club, Shri Petercortish and his team has extended all ground zero level support to grand success of the programme.
In earlier Shri Joseph, John, DYC, welcome the guest and briefing about aims and objective of the Games while Shri Gopal Ch. Biswas of NYK, Campbell Bay coordinated the programme and also proposed vote of thanks.
