Port Blair, Dec 01: The Wildlife Division of Department of Environment and Forest, Port Blair carried out live demonstration on snake identification and handling at Coast Guard Regional Headquarters, Port Blair on 01 Dec 16. The team led by Dr. Sam Varghese, Senior Veterinary Officer conducted a lecture on safety in jungle, first-aid response to snake bites and on handling of snakes. To increase awareness, Coast Guard personnel were trained on catching and handling of both poisonness and non-poisoness snakes.
