Port Blair, Nov 21: The Department of Zoology, JNRM has arranged an interactive meet for the students with Eminent Zoologist Professor. Bhagwat, Ex.HoD, Zoology, R.Ruia College, Mumbai. Professor Bhagwat motivated the students regarding career prospects of Zoology and its allied fields. The students should get acquainted themselves with the latest prospects which in turn helping them for increasing their potential for career, he opined. He also added that the practical knowledge is the bedrock for the research aptitude. Professor Bhagwat donated 25 valuable books of zoology which will be useful for the student community. Dr N Francis Xavier, Principal, JNRM underscored the need for research and extension and said both should go hand in hand. He advised that the books may be added to the departmental library. Dr Lakshmi Narayana, Retired HoD of Zoology, JNRM, spoke on the occasion about the biodiversity of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and the stellar role performed by the Zoologists in protecting the biodiversity. Smt.Pearl Devdas, HoD, Geography also spoke on the occasion. Shri. J Goutham, Assistant Professor & Head of Zoology arranged the programme and moderated the entire event.
