Port Blair, Oct 21:The Department of Art and Culture, A&N Administration is setting up a Museum in the premises of Homfraygunj Martyrs’ Memorial in consultation with the members of Homfraygunj Martyrs’ Memorial Committee. The memorial will focus on various aspects related to Japanese occupation of these islands during 1942-45, through illustrations, photographs, archival records and historical artefacts relating to the relevant period.
In this regard, all the general public and Collectors are requested to contribute books, photos, documents, artifacts or any other relevant material which are in their possession for display in the proposed Museum. All contributions will be duly acknowledged by the Department. Contributors may submit the books, photos, records or any relevant historical artifacts to the Directorate of Art & Culture at Cellular Jail Complex on or before 27 October 2016.
