Port Blair, Sept 29: As a concluding part of Hindi Fortnight celebrations, Hindi Day was celebrated by NABARD Staff at the Conference Hall, NABARD, Andaman and Nicobar Regional Office on 27.09.2016. All the staff members of the RO participated in the celebrations enthusiastically. The function was presided over by Mr Hemant B. Songadkar, General Manager and Officer-in-Charge of the RO and Mr Ramesh Verma, Secretary (Co-operation) and Registrar of Co-operative Societies, A & N Islands participated as chief guest.
The chief guest, Mr R. K. Verma , appreciated various developmental efforts taken by NABARD in the Islands including promotion and usage of Hindi. He impressed upon the participants about the usage of Hindi as a National Language in official and other walks of our life and advised the participants to practice the usage of Hindi. As part of the celebrations Extempore Speech and Translation competitions were organised separately in 2 categories for officers and other staff and prizes were distributed to the winners by Mr Ramesh Verma.
Welcoming the gathering, Mr Hemant B. Songadkar, addressed the participants about the need and usage of Hindi and highlighted that A & N Islands, being in ‘A’ Region, the Regional Office is tryng its level best to ensure that all the local correspondence is in Hindi. He mentioned that as on 31 March 2016, the RO’s achievement in Hindi usage was 81%.
