Port Blair, Sept 28: A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman on Tuesday for preparedness and law and order arrangements for Durga Puja celebrations- 2016 in South Andaman District, which is commencing from 6th October, 2016. The President/Secretaries of Durga Puja committees, Police officials and line departments were present.
The organizers were informed about the prevalent norms and guidelines with regard to fire safety, traffic arrangements, law and order clearances, electricity and cleanliness. They were directed to maintain peace and harmony and function strictly as per norms and only after receiving due permissions. Organizers agreed to comply with these directions.
Organizers/ participants were also directed to comply with Hon’ble National Green Tribunal “ Guidelines for Idol immersion”, issued by CPCB, New Delhi, published as public notice. It was decided that a Facilitation Counter/help desk under the supervision SDM(SA) will be set up in District Control Room for all relevant permissions for the benefit of organizing committee members on 1st October, 3rd October, & 4th October, 2016 (Saturday, Monday & Tuesday) where representatives of different line departments namely Mohammed Ummar, Dy.SP, Police Department (9434288554), Mr Deepak Mondal, Assistant Engineer-1(HQ), Electricity Department (9434285858), Mr George Varghese, Revenue Inspector, Revenue Department (9474204752) and Mr S Sadhukhan, Inspector, Fire Services (9434260616) will be present.
