Billyground, Sept 23: Under the instructions of the Assistant Commissioner of Rangat, a special meeting was convened on Thursday to deliberate on generating awareness and formation of village profiles of all Panchayat under the tehsil.
The meeting was aimed at creating profiles of every village in the region through which all aspects of the hamlets will be made available to the people viz male and female population, literacy rate, economy etc.
The Tehsildar, Mayabunder, Mr Ramesh Kumar chaired the meeting which was supposed to be attended by all the 8 Pradhans under Mayabunder Tehsil. The Tehsildar, however, expressed disappointed over the absence of 4 Pradhans, despite prior invitation letters being sent to them.
Addressing the gathering comprising of Pradhans from the Gram Panchayats of Rampur, Mayabunder, Basantipur and Swadeshnagar, the Tehsildar explained in detail on how to prepare the village profile of every villages of all Panchayats and convinced the Pradhans about the importance of the village profile and its objectives.
During the meeting, the Pradhans also placed their grievances problems that causes hurdled in executing development projects in their respective Panchayats.
Major among the issues include shortage of funds, construction and repair of rural roads, poor BSNL and power services, insufficient medical facilities at Primary Health Centres and District Hospital besides shortage of medical staff in health institutions.
The Tehsildar, Mr Ramesh Kumar assured the Pradhans all the issues raised in the meeting will be placed before the Assistant Commissioner and District Commissioner of the region for their timely redressal.
