Port Blair, Sep 15: The Hindi Fortnight is being observed in the Doordarshan Kendra, Port Blair, from today onwards. The Fortnight was inaugurated by lighting of lamp by the Chief guest Shri Piyush Kumar Jha, Dy. Director/HoO , Doordarshan.
Maintainence Centre, Shri A. Sivakumar, Dy. Director, Shri N.V. Hanumant Rao Assistant Director (Programme) & Drawing & Disbursing Officer Shri K. Sundar.
Speaking on the occasion Chief Guest emphasized the need to simplyfing the usage of Hindi as Official Language so as to over come the impediments on cent percent use of Hindi in these Islands which comes under ‘A’ region.
He also Highlighted the role of Hindi Poets and freedom fighters who adopted Hindi as a link language to strengthen the freedom movement. He termed Hindi as vox- populi and a real link language of these Islands.
The Head of Office Shri A. Sivakumar, Dy. Director (E) called upon all the staff to do their entire work in official language Hindi and to come forward to take part in each competitions enthuciastically. He also stated that the usage of Hindi should not be restricted to a day, week or a fortnight rather it should be continued for the whole year.
Shri Deepak Ch. Tewari, Hindi Officer (i/c) highlighted the achievements in Hindi and gave details of the competitions to be held during the fortnight.
The programme was concluded with vote of thanks delivered by Shri K. Sundar, Drawing & Disbursing Officer/ Assistant Engineer of the Kendra.
