Port Blair, Sept 15: The Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya (JNRM) in collaboration with the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Government of India has organised 13th National Youth parliament competition (Group level) for the student.
Shri Bishnu Pada Ray, Member of Parliament inaugurated programme as chief Guest. While addressing the gathering he appreciated the JNRM for bagging first prize in Group level during the last year.
Dwelling upon his experience as a veteran parliamentarian in opposition as well as ruling party he explained the working of the parliament to the student participants. He wished them all success for this year also. Dr R N Rath, former Principai,MGGC and OSD, law college , was the Guest of Honour and as Jury member highlighted the need to have a vibrant democracy through such discussions. He also observed that the students have observed the parliamentary procedure very well.
Shri Biblab Debnath, Group coordinator of the Ministry of parliamentary Affairs, GoI congratulated the student for giving a flawless and splendid performance.the topics chosen for the discussion was the real need of the hour and students have excelled in it,he added. Earlier, Dr N Francis Xavier, Principal welcomed the gathering and appraised the MP about the Youth parliament competition in JNRM.
He also thanked the Member of Parliament for his support to the students community .Dr S S Sreekumar, HOD political science has also spoke on the occasion. Shri K Venkatesn, Assistant professor & HOD and coordinator proposed vote of thanks.Dr Balakrisan,Associate professor,Department of political science moderated the entire programme.six students Ms.Ananya,ms.jayanthi Mondal, Ms.priyanka Das, Ms.Deepali baroi, Ms. Sneha and ms.sunitha.were selected for special certificate based upon their performance.
