Port Blair, Aug 12: The National President of Indian Pharmacist Association (IPA), Mr Abhay Kumar, met Mr J.P. Nadda, Union Health Minister along with the Member of Parliament, A & N Islands, Mr Bishnu Pada Ray on Aug 10 in his chamber in the Parliament and submitted a representation contained various issues concerning pharmacists.
Pharmacists are the lowest paid health professionals though they are well qualified having qualifications upto Doctorate in Pharmacy. Other health professionals and workers with same or less qualifications are getting more pay than the pharmacists. IPA President demanded pay for pharmacists equivalent to that of other Health Professional with same qualifications. He also demanded for the proper cadre formation with directorate of pharmacy and to frame a Pharmacy Cell/section in Ministry of health and family welfare, Nirman Bhawan on the pattern of Nursing Cell.
Mr Bishnu Pada Ray also supported the demands of Indian Pharmacist Association (IPA). He said that a proper and effective health system can be functional in practical when pharmacists are used properly. Mr Nadda discussed all the demands with keen interest and assured for a positive action at the earliest.
IPA is a national level association working for the welfare of pharmacy professionals and up-liftment of Pharmaceutical Standards in India.
