Port Blair, April 29: The Andaman and Nicobar Command has been conducting outreach programs for the local population in distant islands regularly under the guidance of Vice Admiral Bimal Verma, AVSM, Commander-in-Chief, A & N Command. A multi-Specialty Medical Camp was conducted at CHC Kamorta on Thursday. The medical team comprised of a Gynaecologist from INHS Dhanvantari (Port Blair), a Psychiatrist from Command Hospital Air Force (Bangalore) and a Dermatologist from 155 Air Force Hospital (Jorhat). A similar medical camp was also conducted at Kakana village.
Apart from the two events in the medical outreach program, a lecture on “Problems of Puberty” was also delivered by Lt Col R Nandy, Officer Commanding SHO, Port Blair for school children at Kamorta. 85 patients at the Camp at CHC Kamorta and 35 patients at Kakana village received medical advice. In the third event, 56 children attended the lecture. 14 new health cards were also issued during conduct of this camp.
The camp was successfully conducted with assistance from local civil administration and INS Kardip, the local Naval unit at Kamorta. The Chief Staff Officer (Medical), Andaman and Nicobar Command appreciated the enthusiastic response of the local population and said that regular camps would continue in the future.
