Mayabunder, April 03: Major bush fire has been reported from four different locations of Tugapur Range today but due to swift action of Fire Brigade, Police, Forest and local residents, the fire could not take shape of a Jungle Fire.
According to reports a telephone call was received regarding the bush fire at 11.45 AM from Rest Camp area of Tugapur, after which Fire Personnel immediately reached the spot and started controlling fire.
The fire broke out from the road side of rest camp, Tugapur to Badaamnalla covering a large area of Forest Land damaging few logs kept on the roadsides and also few trees.
The Fire Brigade of Mayabunder and Billiground along with Police and Forest Department as well as the Youth of Rest Camp, Tugapur helped fight the bush fire.
Instantly, the Tehsildar of Mayabunder, Shri Ramesh along with Patwari of Tugapur, Shri. Manikandan also reached the site for investigation. Later, the Tehsildar found the fire turning alive again in the interior part of the forest.
Immediately, the Tehsildar intimated the matter to the Forest Department and Fire Brigad. It is also noticed lots of empty liquor bottles are thrown in the surroundings and roadside areas, indicating late night liquor party by public, it is believed cigarette buds left behind by people could be the reason behind this fire accident.
