Port Blair, April 3: The Port Blair Municipal Council under the mandate of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan will start door to door waste collection with segregation at source level in Ward No. 9 from April 4, 2016. On April 4 and 5, Sanitary staff shall be imparted with specialized training in segregation of wastes. The door to door waste collection on segregation basis at source will be implemented from April 6.
In this connection, the residents and shopkeepers of the Ward No.9 have been requested not to dispose waste of their houses and shops in the open and keep the dry and wet waste (segregated waste) in two different bins/ bags/ containers, which will be collected from respective residential places and shops by the allocated Sanitary workers of the council.
