Port Blair, Mar 21: The Block Resource Centre, Wimberlygunj under the guidance of SSA UT Mission Authority, A & N Islands celebrated “World Down Syndrome Day” on 21st March, 2016 for CWSNs (Children With Special Need) at Mini Stadium, Wimberlygunj. The programme started with the welcome address by Shri V.Raju, Block Resource Person, BRC Wimberlyugnj, who welcomed the guests, CWSNs, their parents and others present on the occasion.
Addressing the CWSNs & their parents, Shri Manickam, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat, Wimberlygunj appreciated the SSA UT Mission and BRC Wimberlygunj for organizing such events for CWSNs which not boosts their ability but also brings a spirit of sportsmanship to participate without hesitation in such activities. Speaking on the occasion, Smt Zareena Bibi, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat, Kanyapuram, urged the parents of CWSNs to take good care of their children and encourage them to develop their inner talents and show it to the world.
This was followed by various Sports activities for CWSNs which included sprint, ball throwing event, matching the puzzle, frog race etc. The CWSNs enthusiastically participated in various events while the parents cheered their young ones to participate in the events.
Cultural activities which included Singing, Slogan writing and Panting competition were also organized wherein a good number of children participated. The Deputy Education Officer, Wimberlygunj, Shri Sethuakarai, PGT along with other PSRTs gave away the prizes to all the children who had participated in various events. Speaking to the gathering, Shri Gyan Sheel Dubey, DEO, Wimberlygunj expressed happiness over the conduct of such special programmes for children with special needs and told that these events act as real morale booster for them. A good number of CWSNs alongwith their parents from Wimberlygunj Educational Zone participated in these events.
