Port Blair, Mar 21: The Govt. of India is committed for sustaining its polio free status until global certification of polio is achieved and implementing the global polio Endgame Strategy. The global polio endgame strategy entails introduction of IPV in the Routine Immunization schedule prior to switch from tOPV to bOPV.
As part of the plan, April 25, 2016 will be observed as Nation Switch Day. On this day, all tOPV stock from government as well as from private hospitals will be destroyed. The Clinical Establishments of South Andaman who have registered under Clinical Establishment Act, 2013, have been requested to handover the tOPV to the Deputy Director (Health), Directorate of Health Services, Port Blair positively by April 24, 2016, said Mr Arun Gupta, Chairman/ADM (SA), Enforcement Committee, District Registering Authority South Andaman in a release.
