Port Blair, Mar 18: Vidya Yuvakendra Foundation (VYF)0, an NGO working for skill development and to facilitate suitable employment in Port Blair organized a seminar on women empowerment with the support of NABARD at YMCA Hall recently.Mr Hemant B. Songad kar, General Manager, NABARD inaugurated the seminar in the presence of Ms Reeta Devi, Welfare Officer, Directorate of Social Welfare.
In his address, Mr Songadkar said that the role of SHGs is crucial for the socio economic development of these islands. NABARD will extend all possible support to SHGs to achieve women empowerment in these islands. Ms Reeta Devi spoke on protection of women from domestic violence and highlighted welcome schemes of the Directorate of Social Welfare. Professor Kathpalia, HOD Gyanacologist, ANIIMS, briefed about women health.
Eminent resources person from various organizations spoke on topics like Women and micro enterprises Development (A.Sinha Roy,Executive officer, KVIB), Domestic violence and law (Smti. Joythi jagpal, Sub Inspector, Women Cell, Port Blair), Stress management & Art Of Life (Sister MALIKA Form Brahma Kumaris), Mudhra Loan & Atal Pension (Mr Suresh Kumar, Ex- Principal, Rajeev Gandhi Cooperative training College).
Earlier, Mr J.Mohanraam Kumar, Director, Vidya Yuvakendra Foundation welcomed the gathering. Mr. S. Shivraj, Sr. Coordinator, VYK proposed the vote of thanks.
