Port Blair, March 17: The agitation by local unemployed CDC Holders completed one month today. The youths are demanding seniority wise enrolment of unemployed CDC holders and engaging of local crew in the Andaman Administration owned vessels like MV Nicobar, MV Akbar and MV Harshavardhana.
The agitating youths today alleged that even after one month of long agitation the Directorate of Shipping Services has not taken any positive step to resolve the issue.
The CDC Holders started their agitation on 17th February 2016 at Tiranga Park, Aberdeen Bazaar and after one week they started their relay hunger strike on 26th February, which is continuing till today.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, the local unemployed CDC Holders said that even after the directions of the Lt Governor no positive steps were taken by the DSS to resolve their issue.
The CDC Holders threatened that if nothing is done in next seven days then all the CDC Holders who are presently working at various inter island ships will join the agitation, which will ultimately disrupt the shipping services of inter island sector.
