Port Blair, Jan 28: The President, Pradesh, Congress Committee, Mr Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma met the Chief Port Administrator, Dr. R.D. Tripathi, on Thursday and drew his attention towards the hardships being faced by the general public particularly the old aged persons, women and children of Hut Bay due to entry restrictions at Hut Bay jetty.
The Hut Bay jetty is very long and for boarding a vessel one has to walk long distance. As such the passengers specially old age people, children and women are finding it very difficult to walk such a long distance with their baggage/ luggage.
Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, President, PCC urged the CPA to allow two wheelers and private vehicles inside the jetty, as was done in the past, so that passengers could easily reach to the vessels without struggling with luggage.
Mr Sharma, President, PCC has also highlighted the hardship being faced by the inter island passengers at Phoenix Bay jetty. Mr Sharma said that the women and aged passengers reaching at Jetty from inter islands are facing difficulties to carry their baggage/luggage up to the harbor gate. He urged the CPA for issue of necessary gate pass/permit to labours for entry in to Phoenix Bay Harbour complex to mitigate the difficulties of the passengers.
The Chief Port Administrator, after giving a patient hearing to the PCC President, assured appropriate action into the issues on priority.
