Port Blair, Jan 05: A middle aged gentleman presented with large intestinal obstruction at Chakraborty Multi Specialty Hospital. On CT Scan, the cause of obstruction was found to be Intussusception.
It is a condition in which a part of Intestine gets sucked inside adjacent bowel lumen leading to progressive obstruction. If not treated timely, it may lead to gangrene of bowel. Usually it is treated by emergency surgery by opening up abdomen.
However, Dr. Sudip Chakraborty did colonoscopy and found a large tumor in bowel which lead to intussusception. By graded suction and bowel shortening, intussusception was corrected and Intestinal obstruction released.
