Port Blair, January 05: A team of Port Blair Municipal Council with police backup reached a house situated at Gurudwara Line, Port Blair this afternoon to seal it for the second time, triggering outrage.
As per reports, previous year on April 10th the same house was sealed for violating Municipal Council building bye-laws but was again the house was de-sealed previous year on November 4th on the condition of rectifying the violation and as a proof the Port Blair Municipal Council had taken an undertaking from the house owner.
The house owner, Mr Rakesh Chander Lall alleged that in the affidavit it was also mentioned that the PBMC will inform him about the violations and based on that he will do necessary corrections in the building.
“For two months the PBMC did take any action to tell us about the violations and this is shocking that instead of informing me about the violations, I committed, the PBMC team came to seal my house once again,” Mr Rakesh said. The house owner alleged that for reasons unknown the PBMC is targeting only their house.
However the PBMC could not seal the house due to the presence of a lot of public and media but the team inspected the whole house.
“There are violations of Municipal Council building bye laws and I will be submitting a report,” said the Building Inspector, Municipal Council to the media. It is also learnt that the team came to seal only the aforesaid house while there are hundreds and hundreds of other buildings in city, which are being constructed by violating Municipal Council building bye laws but no action is taken against them.
