Diglipur, November 12: Kali Puja was celebrated in Diglipur Island with pomp and religious fervour. Like Diwali, people in Diglipur light lamps, and fire crackers to welcome Maa Kali.
A large number of devotees visited the pandals house at Vegetable market, Children Park, Aerial Bay and Kalighat bazaar to offer prayers to the goddess on the auspicious day.
Devotees also stood in long queues at the pandals to offer puja.
Residential houses and public places were illuminated with candles and decorative lamps while people used fireworks as part of the festivity.
To keep the celebration peaceful, security was beefed up in and around the city.
