Middle Andaman, Nov 08: The ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, N & M Andaman , organized a three days training programme from 04th to 06th November on ‘Preparation of low cost balanced diet for the family’ for practicing farm women at Pinaki Nagar, Middle Andaman. The training was inaugurated by Shri. Kishore Roy , Up Pradhan, Hari Nagar , in his inaugural speech he appreciated all the efforts taken by KVK, N & M Andaman for organizing the above training and also urged the trainees to adopt & disseminate the knowledge gained during the training programme which will help in elevating malnutrition in these rural areas to some extent.
Dr. Pooja kapoor, SMS (Home Science) briefed about the objectives of this training programme and explained the importance and need of consuming a well balanced diet for the whole family for achieving nutritional security. Dr. Shardul Vikram Lal, SMS (Animal Science) briefed about nutritional importance of animal & milk products in daily diet & Shri D. Basantia, SMS (Horticulture) discussed about role of fruits & vegetables in daily diet. The training also included demonstration of various low cost nutritious recipes prepared from the locally available produce. A total of 37 farmwomen participated in the training programme.
The training was organized under the supervision of Dr. B. L. Kasinath , Sr. Scientist &Head ,N& M Andaman and Dr. Nagesh Ram, Sr. Scientist & Head ,South Andaman and under the guidance of Dr. S. Dam Roy, Director, CIARI, and Port Blair.
Earlier, Dr. Shardul Vikram Lal, SMS (Animal Science) welcomed the gathering and Dr. Shailesh Kumar, SMS (Fisheries) proposed the vote of thanks.
