Port Blair, Oct 16: The Government of India through Ministry of HRD is in the process of formulating the National Education Policy in view of changing dynamics of India’s requirement regarding quality education, innovation and research, making India a knowledge superpower by equipping its students with the necessary skills and knowledge and to ensure adequate and skilled manpower in science, technology, academics and industry. For this purpose, 33 themes have been identified for discussions across the country. The themes are divided separately for the School Education (13 themes) and Higher Education (20 themes) sectors. In this regard, State Level Consultation on New Education Policy held on 16-10-2015 at 9.30 AM in DBRAIT Conference Hall, which was inaugurated by the Shri Anand Prakash, Chief Secretary, A & N Admn. with lighting the lamp in presence of Smt Minoti Biswas Adhyaksha, Zilla Parishad Shri Raajiv Yaduvanshi Principal Secretary(Edn), Ms. Tanvi Garg, Secretary(Edn), Deputy Commissioner(SA), PRI members, Zonal Officers, Principal of various schools and other stakeholders. The Chief Secretary, A & N Admn. in his inaugural address pressed importance of the education and suggested participants to share their thoughts and ideas on New Education Policy. Shri Raajiv Yaduvanshi, Principal Secretary (Edn) in his address informed that Panachayat level, Block level, District level discussions/suggestions on New Education Policy have already been ascertained and requested the participants/stakeholders of State to put their views suggest their ideas. Ms. Tanvi Garg, Secretary (Edn) through power point presentation explained about how one can share their views, opinion on New Education Policy through on-line citizen education portal http://education.andaman.gov.in and Mobile application “Dweep Shiksha” which is available on Google Play Store . All residents as well as various stakeholders of U.T., Andaman & Nicobar Islands are encouraged to post and share their suggestions and aspirations preferably by 22nd October 2015, so that the objective of progress through public participation could be achieved. The State Level Consultation was divided in two sessions. In the first session, discussions were held on School Education and in the second session on Higher Education including Technical Education and Teacher Education.
