Port Blair, Oct 13: An awareness programme on the Ill-Effects of Drug Abuse and Alcoholism was conducted in the Old Library Hall of JNRM recently. The topic was explained elaborately to make the students aware of what is alcoholism & drug abuse, how it affects the human body’s normal functions, dangers of alcoholism and drug use and the after effects of addiction by Mr. Saji Joseph, Associate Professor and HOD Physical Education. The social stigma attached to the social evils was narrated by the speaker. Dr. Laly Joseph also oriented the students about the ill effects of chewing ‘paan’ which is common among students here. Students from various departments attended the programmme which was organized by Dept. of Physical Education and coordinated by Dr. Laly Joseph, Associate Professor, and Dept. of Physical Education.
