Port Blair, Aug 31: The Director General of Police met representatives of NGOs of these islands at the Police Headquarters on Monday. Various issues particularly sale of liquor, consumption of psychotropic substances by children, deployment of Police, proper disposal of garbage from the city, were discussed during the meeting. The participants raised the issues related with domestic violence, suicide cases etc. and demanded more counselling centers from the administration and regular interaction by the Police with the children, parents and teachers for awareness in respect of children related offences. The Director General of Police assured that Andaman & Nicobar Police will work on improving the coordination with NGO’s working in this field to ensure better delivery of service to the people of these Islands. The DGP also appreciated the selfless service rendered by the NGOs in their specialized areas.
