Port Blair, Aug 31: The traffic police has time and again issued instructions and advised the owners of transport as well private vehicles of all kinds not to park their vehicles such as buses, trucks, cars, vans, jeeps, auto rickshaws etc. on the road side during night time causing traffic congestion and inconvenience to the general public. Though permits to vehicles are issued by the State Transport Authority only after production of parking area certificates, it has been observed that such areas are not being utilized by many vehicle owners, rather they prefer to park their vehicles at public places and road sides violating the prescribed parking area provisions.
Idle/obstructive parking of transport vehicles during night at places other than the parking area mentioned in the permit is a violation of the permit condition, and therefore, all owners of such vehicles are directed to strictly adhere to the parking area mentioned in their permits failing which necessary action will be initiated as per the rule, which may lead to suspension/cancellation of permits in addition to action under Motor Vehicles Act 1988. Similar action will also be initiated against the private vehicle owners indulging in such illegal parking during night.
