Port Blair, Aug 7: It was observed during the last Independence Day i.e 15th August 2014 that most of the shopkeepers running their shops alongside the road from Clock Tower to Ratnam Market had displayed their goods on footpath in front of their shops due to which a large crowd had gathered for shopping thereby causing obstruction and inconvenience to the free flow of vehicular as well as pedestrian movements, while the ITF Ground had been made available for the traders to sell their products.
The shopkeepers of the area have been advised to keep their products inside their shop instead of displaying the same on the footpath on 15th August, 2015. The shopkeepers are further informed that if anybody is found displaying their goods on the footpath, necessary legal action will be taken against the shopkeepers under Section 34(4) of Police Act, 1861.
