Port Blair, Aug 7: The Chairperson, Port Blair Municipal Council, Mr M Arumugam, has advised citizens to desist from illegal earth cutting and dumping of construction materials beside retaining walls. Referring to the landslide at Atlanta Point that caused a retaining wall collapse in which household goods were damaged and a girl suffered injuries on Thursday, Mr Arumugam said that earth cutting increases the risk of landslides and should be avoided to prevent mishaps.
