Port Blair, Aug 5: In special drives, the District Special Police Team arrested ten gamblers from gambling dens of Attam Pahar near Primary School and Prem Nagar on Aug 3 and 4, 2015 and Rs seized 80535/- gambling money from them.
In the drive at Attam Pahar near Primary School, the District Special Team comprising of ASI M.A. Rasheed, and staff raided the gambling den at Attam Pahar near Primary School and arrested five person from the den namely K. Naidu S/o K. Sathya Narayan (32)yrs R/o Calicut, Daruv Kr Das S/o Shri Shyam Pado (29) yrs R/o Bathu Basti, Ajay Kumar S/o Shri Natarajan (30)yrs R/o Dolly Gunj, Vardha Rajan S/o Shri Perumal (45)yrs R/o New Pahargaon and Vinesh Narayan S/o Jag Narayan (40)yrs R/o Garachrama Rs 35000/- board money alongwith 52 Nos. playing cards were seized from the spot and Rs 23000/- was seized from their personal search.
In another raid, the District Special Team comprising of ASI M.A. Rasheed and staff under the supervision of DySP (SA) Mohd. Aslam, raid a gambling den at Prem Nagar was busted and five persons namely Vijender Singh S/o Late Baldev Singh (56)yrs R/o Prem Nagar, K. Saraju S/o late. K. Moideen Hazi (57)yrs R/o Prem Nagar, Suresh Kumar S/o Late Narayan (42)yrs R/o Prem Nagar, Sameer Nag S/o Shri A.K. Nag (50)yrs R/o Messenger Forest Deptt. and Peter D Souza S/o Late Joseph D Souza (55)yrs R/o Prem Nagar were arrested. A sum of Rs. 13535/- board money and 52 playing cards were seized from the spot and Rs. 9000/- was seized from their personal search. The gamblers have been booked under the A&N Gambling Regulation.
The general public have been requested to pass on any credible information on any illegal activity on the telephone numbers: 233077, 232405, 100, 9531856175 and 9434288673. The informant will be suitably rewarded and his/her identity will be kept secret, said Superintendent of Police, South Andaman, Mr Shibesh Singh in a release.
