Port Blair, Aug 4: The Lt. Governor, A & N Islands reviewed the Plan expenditure upto the month of July, 2015 on Tuesday. The Secretary (Finance) gave a presentation to the Lt. Governor and Chief Secretary at Raj Niwas. The expenditure upto July, 2015 of the Departments of Police, Health, Education/Sports/Art & Culture, Power and Social Welfare was found to be satisfactory.
However, the expenditure of two major Departments e.g. Shipping and Rural Development/PRI/LSG was not found to be satisfactory as the Departments were found to be slacking in achieving the desired expenditure upto July, 2015.
The Ministry of Finance is time and again emphasizing the need to achieve the target of 50% expenditure by the end of September. The said target has to be achieved by the Departments so that there is no curtailment of funds at the Revised Estimate stage.
The Lt Governor expressed his concern over the lackadaisical approach of the Departments in achieving the target and has emphasized that if any Department fails to achieve the desired targets, their proportionate allocation will be withdrawn and re-allocated to other departments on need basis for optimum utilization of funds, said the Secretary (Finance) in an official release.
