Port Blair, July 24: Inspector General Kuldip Singh Sheoran PTM, TM will take over command as the 22nd Commander of Coast Guard, A & N Region in a ceremonial function at Port Blair on July 25, 2015.
IG Sheoran joined Indian Coast Guard in 1984, and has held various key Operational and Staff appointments, both, afloat and ashore during his 30 years of illustrious career. The flag Officer has commanded all four major classes of Coast Guard Ships with distinction, viz., Advanced Offshore Patrol Vessel Sankalp, Offshore Patrol Vessel Varad, Fast Patrol Vessel Kamla Devi, Inshore Fast Patrol Vessel Tarabai. The Officer’s important command appointments ashore include the Commanding Officer of Indian Coast Guard Station Delhi and Commanding Officer of Indian Coast Guard Tuticorin.
The other key staff assignments of the IG include Principal Director (Logistics) at Coast Guard Headquarters, New Delhi, Chief of Staff of Coast Guard Region (West) at Mumbai and Coast Guard Region (A&N) at Port Blair. On elevation to the flag rank in Feb 2013, he commanded the strategically important Coast Guard Region (North-West) Gandhinagar with maritime area of responsibility of the state of Gujarat. 0 DATA
He is specialist in Search & Rescue and Maritime Safety and Port Operations from United States Coast Guard Reserve Training Centre. The flag Officer is also alumnus of Asia Pacific Centre for Security Studies Honolulu (Hawai).
IG Sheoran is decorated with prestigious President Tatrakshak Medal and Tatrakshak Medal. He is also a recipient of Commendation by Central Board of Exercise and Custom for Anti Smuggling Operations.
The Flag officer is happily married to Mrs Vidya Sheoran and has two sons Gagandeep and Navaldeep. Elder son is Major in Indian Army and younger is MBA (Fashion Designing and Merchandising) and working for American brand at Ahmadabad.
