Port Blair, July 21: YUVASAKTHI, the NGO familiarly known for women empowerment in A&N Islands extended its services for community development through self help group at all Panchayats in North & Middle Andaman. In a function organized at Subashgram, Keralapuram, Shibpur & Durgapur at Diglipur, Yuvasakthi emphasized the concept of the Self Help Group and through which how the community can be developed in an organized and planned manner for the welfare of the poor and needy people of the locality.
Founder members of Yuvasakthi S/Shri P. Senpagaraja and K. Subramani elaborated the various Schemes offered by the Government as well as NABARD for the overall development of the community of the Rural areas to the large gathering attended by group of Farmers, Fishermen community and housemaids. The function was presided over by Shri PR Singaram, Pradhan at Subashgram Panchayat, Shri Madhu Sudan Nair, Pradhan, Keralapuram Gram Panchayat, Shri Neelu Mazumdar, Pradhan, Shri Prashant Bonic, Up Pradhan , Shipur Panchayat and a good number of PRI Members were also present.
More thrust has been given to the PM’s prestigious and glorious scheme of Swachcha Bharat Abhiyan and also Skill Development through SHGs. Concrete lecture on the need for cleanliness in and around the domicile, its pros and cons, living in healthy atmosphere and method of forming SHGs and to explore and develop the skills through which one can enhance his living standards were given by the founder members of Yuvasakthi. Impressive lecture gave way to form around 20 SHGs amongst the gathering from the above Panchayats by opening bank a/c in the Nationalised Banks of the locality to function the SHGs prospectively.
